by Fahn, 25 days agoBregan D'Aerth showed the goblins of Clan Runnyeye why it is not wise to cross them.
After arriving in the zone, we pretty much took over. Working our way down, killing anything that moved. After a few hours, we had everything dead or dying, and several drops to go along with that!
Everyone did great! You all worked well together and moved well. I hear the planar mobs got wind of our success and are shaking in their boots!
by Fahn, 27 days ago“All we seek is safe Passage…” Spoke the hooded figure. It had been weeks since he had arrived in the slime covered halls and his patience for the stench of this place was wearing thin. Moreover the sheer stupidity of the goblins had him at wits end. Every time he made progress, the next day it was if they had completely forgotten about him. And it was becoming clear that even if an agreement was reached, he could not be sure of its validity.
“Your Highness…” He tried to start again, but the goblin king sat staring into a small clear stone, ignoring him completely. The tall erudite let out a frustrated sigh and turned his gaze back to the gifts he had brought. It wasn’t much, various spirits from across Norrath, Elven wine, Deepsea Brew and some magic crystals from Akanon that summoned clean water. The last item was more of a joke as he and his superiors knew that these goblins had no use for anything clean. He sneered at the two goblins that were busy rummaging through the items laid out across the floor and silently wished he had kept one of the stones to help wash off the stink of this place.
A cry called his attention back to the king, he had some how activated the stone while holding it above his head. A very wet king was now staring angrily across the room at the paladin while the shattered crystal was lying against the wall.
“You GO! NOW!” Shouted the goblin king.
“King! I’m sorry I…”
“GO!”
Sadad looked across the room. The goblins had all turned their attention to him now. They were drawing their weapons and scowling at him angrily. He had no doubt that he could dispatch these in short order, however he knew he was in the middle of hundreds of goblins of Clan Runnyeye. And the call of their king would bring them all down upon him.
He growled and took a few steps backwards towards the door. “King, do not make an enemy of Bregan D’Aerth. Just grant us safe passage through the upper floors and we will bother you no longer.”
“Yous kind no come here, we kill all we sees!” He stood and drew his black bastard sword.
Sadad knew that there was nothing more to do here, he turned his gaze back towards the gifts he had brought.
“We keep! You GO!” shouted the king.
He didn’t want the items, but making the goblins think he did would keep them from following him out. He turned and quickly left out the door, heading up the halls. He heard cries from deep within the darkness as he headed towards the exit. A strange smell wafted down from one of the halls that the goblins did not appear to pass through. He took notice of the younger goblins playing around a pool and considered it odd that these little ones are the only things keeping their desired passage guarded. If any were to try to move goods through here, it would be these little goblins that would bring the force from below to attack.
Sadad breathed in the fresh air as he neared the exit. A wide mouth opened before him as the cavern came to an end. Two goblins stood watch on either side and stared at him as he exited the cave.
He made his way through the mist filled forest and arrived at the ruins, easily dispatching the skeletons that guarded it. The paladin sat that the base of the old monument, closed his eyes and waited.
“There you go, Cale” the halfling said as she handed the druid a bottle of her famous honey jum.
“Thanks Kizzie! I’m sure I will be back for more!”
“Any time dearie.” She said with a smile.
Calegrin bowed to her and bounded out of the store with a smile on his face. There was just something about Rivervale that made him smile. The music from the fool’s gold tavern was loud as usual and he chuckled at the tune as he passed by.
“Headed out again Cale?!” a strong voice called. The druid turned and looked for the origin of the voice in vain. “Up here.” Looking up he finally saw, setting in the window in the town hall the sheriff looking down at him.
“Yes Sheriff, off to barter with goblins!” said Calegrin, in all seriousness.
The Sheriff’s eyes narrowed at the Halfling and bore into him for a moment. His stern gaze cracked and they both were roared with laughter. “Haha! I’m sure they will consider your offer, after they have eaten your Toes!” The sheriff jested. “Well wherever you are headed off to, keep yourself safe!”
“I will!” Called the druid as he headed out towards the misty thicket. He was still chuckling as he jogged past the two deputies who both smiled and nodded in his direction.
The Halfling still kept his smile as he ran through the forest stopping only briefly to bless a young hunter or to chat up a local merchant. He made his way along the road to the great Halfling wall and smiled at each guard as he passed through. His smile still did not fade as he took notice of the foot prints leading out of the cavern and headed towards the old ruins. “Sadad has finished.” He thought to himself and as he crested the hill, his smile broadened as he noticed the ol’ paladin sitting at the base of the spire.
“So when can we start moving in?” Asked Cale his tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Very funny.” Came a voice from behind him. He spun and saw nothing but the empty forest. “It was worth a try. And Sadad gave it his best.” A moment later, the wizard appeared, noticing the Halflings obvious distress at his invisible voice.
“You were there?” Asked the paladin whose eyes were still closed.
“Indeed, it was my idea after all. I couldn’t risk losing you to the stink of that place,” Said the high elf, turning up his nose in disgust at the reminder of the stink. “Still, I can’t believe that stupid king would douse himself like that. Did you see the look on his face?” The wizard chuckled at the thought.
“I saw the look he gave me after he broke your stupid crystal.” Said the paladin sternly, putting an end to the chuckling.
“Wait, wait, what? It was the crystal that caused the talks to fail?” Said the Halfling, his smile already back in place. “Hah I told you gifts were pointless!”
“Ugh.,” Said the wizard in frustration “ the point of the gifts wasn’t the gifts, it was showing the force of dark elves that came from Rivervale.”
“Hehe, the goblins would never get such a subtle point San.”
“Goblins understand force,” Sanluen said bluntly.
“Then let’s show ‘em force!” Calegrin said excitedly, a wicked grin appearing on his face. Sanluen thought for a moment and soon the two shared the same look.
“A gathering of Bregan D’Aerth…” Sadad said as he rose to his feet. He gripped his sword and pointed the blade towards Runnyeye Citadel“… those snake spawn will certainly be shown force.”
